Writing:
- Poems, stanzas, and lines should have
a clear sequence of thought.
Poems are not paragraphs! See the samples!
- Each poem should have only one topic.
- Use vivid detail and precise descriptive words.
- All poems should have a title with
appropriate letters capitalized on the poetry page
in addition to the Table of Contents.
- Every line of poetry should start with
a capital letter.
- Use commas, periods, question marks
and other punctuation where necessary.
- Poetry will be published on unlined paper reflecting skill at using a
ruler or paper guide to write horizontally. Shape poems may follow
the shape of the poem as needed. Margins
and alignment should be neat and appropriate for the types of poems
created.
- The final published copy will be created on black construction
paper using milky or gel pens. Some Gellyroll and Jellyline pens
may
not work well on black construction paper, so try your pens out to see if they will
work properly on black construction paper.
- The final project should reflect the work
you are able to produce
given the time available in class and for homework.
- Information should be neatly presented reflecting personal pride.
